A sleeve, a sleeve!

Okay, I know that many other knitters have knit dozens and dozens of sleeves , so the fact that I finished one measly sleeve might not seem very newsworthy. But this is my first sweater! And I've finished my first sleeve! This feels like a major accomplishment. I'm one step closer to a whole sweater. Of course at the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky to finish it by fall when the weather gets chilly again, but that's okay.

Actually, it turned out knitting a sleeve wasn't all that different from knitting my legwarmers (except that I'm double stranding Gloss Lace and adding in stripes of Bayou Shimmer instead of just using one strand of worsted weight yarn).

If you've been reading my blog for awhile, you know that knitting a sweater has been on my to-do list for quite awhile. I'm finally doing it! One of my co-workers designed this sweater herself, so it seemed like a good choice for my first sweater. I mean, how often can you run downstairs and ask the designer for help if you get stuck? And the pattern is free!

I've also been getting lots of moral support from the Classic Lines Cardigan KAL in the Knit Picks Knitting Community. If you're thinking about knitting this sweater, I highly suggest you come join us. It's lots of fun! Next up- the body!

  1. Congrats on your first sweater sleeve; that is a pretty big accomplishment. That looks like an excellent choice for a first sweater. Good luck!!
